3. "If Jody doesn't pay her ticket, she will go to jail." Which other statement must be true?
A) If Jody doesn't go to jail, she paid her ticket.
B) If Jody pays her ticket, she won't go to jail.
C) If Jody goes to jail, she didn't pay her ticket.
According to the test the ‘right’ answer is A, but this is an invalid deduction (the problem is that it confirms the consequent. Here’s another example (from online):
If it rains, the picnic will be cancelled.
The picnic was cancelled.
Therefore it rained.
I guess a ‘genius’ didn’t write the test.
